Presidential Visit in heep
4/05/2024
President Welsh came by the Heep Laboratory Building this morning to take a look at the awesome research going on in the psychology department. Our lab presented the work we are doing with Dr. Zina Trost's lab in VR for a future grant alongside our EEG set up for trauma and stress studies. Keep an eye out for pictures of President Welsh taking a tour of the different labs and upcoming news cycle for his visit to Heep.
risc lab is moving to texas a&M!
7/24/2022
Exciting news - Dr. Albanese and the RISC lab will be moving to Texas A&M University to join the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences!
While we are saddened to leave our wonderful colleagues at Auburn University, we look forward to new opportunities and collaborations at Texas A&M to further expand our research on neurobehavioral vulnerability factors for PTSD and suicide.
Dr. Albanese will be recruiting graduate students for the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Texas A&M beginning this cycle (for Fall 2023 enrollment). If you are interested in a research-based career seeking to understand neurobehavioral risk factors for PTSD and suicide, please consider applying!
We will also be hiring a full-time lab manager (start date flexible), who will help coordinate studies using a variety of methodologies, including (but not limited to) event-related potentials (ERPs), ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and virtual reality-based behavioral measurements. Lab managers will also be trained in clinical assessment and receive individualized training and supervision. This position is best-suited for someone interested in gaining the necessary experience to apply for Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs.

Third ANNUAL FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY RESEARCH SUMMIT
7/08/2022
Dr. Albanese and the RISC lab had another productive and fun experience at the third annual Florida State University Developing Scholars Summit hosted by Dr. Brian Albanese, Dr. Daniel Capron (University of Southern Mississippi), and Dr. Brad Schmidt (Florida State University). We had a great time discussing potential grants and projects with some great collaborators!
RESEARCH SUPPORT PROGRAM internal GRANT RECIPIENT - collaboration with Dr. Joe bardeen
5/1/2022
We are excited to announce that Drs. Albanese and Bardeen were awarded the Research Support Program internal grant titled " Testing a Single-Session Attention Bias Modification Program for Individuals with PTSD and Maladaptive Behavioral Phenotypes of Threat Processing" (Total costs: $50,000)! This study will use eye-tracking and an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) follow-up period to assess the efficacy of a personalized threat attention bias modification across individuals with PTSD presenting with varying levels of attentional control.
RESEARCH SUPPORT PROGRAM INTERNAL GRANT RECIPIENT
8/9/2021
We are excited to announce that Dr. Albanese and the RISC Lab were awarded the Research Support Program internal grant titled "Neurobehavioral sensitivity to negative reinforcement in suicide" (Total costs: $50,000)! This study will use event-related potentials (ERPs) and an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) follow-up period to assess the roles of threat sensitivity and negative reinforcement in daily fluctuations of affect and suicidality.
We are also excited to be launching the Biobehavioral Risk for Traumatic Stress (BRiTS) study, which will also utilize ERPs and and EMA follow-up period to examine neurobehavioral mechanisms underlying naturalistic changes in traumatic intrusions, safety behaviors, and avoidance of trauma reminders.
Please visit the "Participate" tab to learn more about how to participate in our research!
